Gym etiquette at SLV Gymnatics

Gym rules are for the benefit of all students. At SLV Gymnastics  we like to have our students uniformly dressed to create a cohesive environment. We emphasize the consistent practice of gymnastic class, performance etiquette, and dress code.

Young Gymnast

Attendance

  • Students must arrive 10-15 minutes before class to allow time to use the bathroom, dress, remove jewelry, and neatly put hair back into a bun.

  • Please contact your instructor if you/your student will be late or unable to make class.

  • Students who have missed 3 or more classes unexcused  may be dismissed from their class.

  • Makeups for individuals missed: classes are offered only has a booked private lessons on our website.

  • If classes are cancelled as a whole due to unforeseen circumstances of SLV Gymnastics (for example, but not limited too: snow days, sicknesses, emergency, etc.) SLV Gymnastics will schedule a makeup day.

Gym Rules

  • Girls must wear a LEOTARD to participate in class, hair neatly out of face and in a bun, and remove jewelry for EVERY class and meet.

  • Boys can wear athletic shorts and t-shirt. 

  • NO Cellphones. Must remain in waiting area, silenced, and safely stored away.

  • Students and parents are responsible for their belongings. Do not bring valuables into the gym or waiting area. SLV Gymnastics is not responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced property.

  • All students MUST be picked up within 10 minutes of the end of class.

  • NO gum, food, or drinks other than water permitted in the gym. PLEASE make sure to bring plenty of water for your student. WE DO NOT PROVIDE WATER.

  • NO parent/caregivers/siblings in gym while class is in session. We have a waiting area with a camera tv for parents to watch their student. 

  • NO loud noises allowed in the waiting area when class is in session

  • NO SHOES on mats or gymnastic floor

 

Class Etiquette

  • Eyes and attention must always be on the teacher.

  • Be appreciative of corrections and apply them.

  • Be kind to your classmates.

  • No talking while your teacher is speaking

  • Students are only allowed on the gymnastic equipment if instructed by teacher and teacher is present. 

  • After class, applaud teacher and say “Thank you.”

SLV Gymnastics is committed to conducting its activities in the safest manner possible. We hold the safety of the  participants in the highest possible regard. Parents must recognize however that there is an inherent risk of injury  when choosing to participate in recreational activities. SLV Gymnastics continually strives to reduce such risks and  

insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions, which have been designed to protect the  participant’s safety.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY WAIVER: 

WARNING! CATASTROPHIC INJURY, PARALYSIS OR EVEN DEATH CAN RESULT FROM THE IMPROPER CONDUCT OF THE ACTIVITY.  

In consideration of SLV Gymnastics accepting myself or my child into participation and/or training in gymnastics, which  activity I hereby acknowledge involves greater than normal risk of injury, I agree, for myself or as my child's parent/guardian to  assume responsibility for all risks, cost, or losses sustained by me, my child, or my child's family in connection with participation  in gymnastics classes, programs, lessons, meets, birthday parties, open gyms, field trips or any other activities connected with SLV Gymnastics.  

I give my permission to SLV Gymnastics and/or appropriate medical facility to make whatever emergency (first aid, disaster  evacuation, etc.) measures as judged necessary for the care and protection of me or my child while under the supervision of SLV Gymnastics.  

In case of an emergency, I understand that I or my child will be transported to an appropriate medical facility by the local  emergency unit for treatment if the local emergency resources deem it necessary. Transportation will be at my own expense.  

It is understood that in some medical situations, the staff will need to contact the local emergency resource before the parent,  physician and/or other acting on behalf of the parent or family can be reached.  

Further, I hereby release and agree to hold harmless and to indemnify SLV Gymnastics employees, owners or volunteers from  any claims, losses or expenses incurred or on the behalf of me, my child or my child's family.  

 

CONSENT TO PHOTOGRAPH AND MEDIA REALEASE: 

I understand that my child's photograph or video may be taken during the course of class instruction, during a special event at SLV Gymnastics or at a function sanctioned by SLV Gymnastics. I hereby grant permission to SLV Gymnastics to use my  child's photograph or likeness in any publicity or promotional publications (e.g., web site, newspaper ads, bulletin boards,  newsletters, programs, brochures, public broadcasting releases, etc.) and to allow the news media to film and/or photograph  programs and activities for broadcast purposes.
